In the workplace, language is power. Too often people fail to harness this power successfully. In the workplace, language is power. Too often we fail to harness that power successfully. Instead our language undermines our authority and effectiveness and is easily misinterpreted.

This module teaches participants to harness their power successfully, and includes effective relationship building and communication skills as the keys to connecting with others to increase performance. Using listening skills, empathetic and appreciative expression, and leading with questions, creates trust and commitment with fellow employees, management, clients and individuals. Networking and sales is more than a stack of business cards. It involves identifying contacts and creating strong relationships and connections with others. Emotional and Social Intelligence skills are critical for successful relationship building.

We need to:

• Improve your listening skills
• Express empathy
• Lead with questions
• Use appreciative expression
• Have skills to deal with confrontation and challenging conversations

This module will facilitate you to improve your professional life and business by enabling you and your co-workers to communicate your ideas more effectively and to better understand one another. You will also build better relationships thereby reducing conflict due to poor communication and to increase productivity.

As a result, you will:

• Use empathic dialog to express emotions and respond to others.
• Build skills, strategy and techniques for building your network and sales.
• Discover methods for giving and receiving feedback that hold people accountable.
• Learn techniques to build collaboration, help people solve difficult problems and feel connected to your organization.
• Employ a model for pursuing powerful connections and enhancing relationships.
